Rates & Freebies
Fees are calculated based on the number of pages or words you submit before editing, and on your ability to write, as your writing level will determine the amount of editing work required. My goal is to work within your budget. I also am willing to work on an hourly, retainer, or per project basis.
Hourly, retainer, and per project fees are negotiable and based on the type of project, time required, design or layout work needed, etc. My goal is to give you the best value for your money and to provide you with the best possible end result.
If the rate for your project adds up to less than the minimum, you pay only the minimum fee.
Editing Services

Proofreading = $1.50 per page ($15 minimum if less than 10 pages). Over 10 pages, $1.50 per page minimum or $0.0023 per word.
- Typed Hard Copy Editing = $2.00 to $5.00 per page ($10 minimum up to 5 pages) depending on your writing skill + shipping, or $0.0032 per word.
- Electronic Copy Editing submitted Via Email = $2.00 to $5.00 per page for standard format, depending on your writing skill and/or $0.0032 per word for non-standard formats ($10 minimum for less than to 5 pages).

Heavy Editing with Some Rewriting Assistance = $3.00 to 4.50 per page for standard format, $0.0047 per word or $25 per hour ($25 minimum up to 8 pages)

Audio Tape to Text Transcription = $2.50 per page ($15 minimum) + shipping and $32 for hard copy printout of up to 100 pages, plus CD. Over 100 pages is $0.2 cents per additional page printout.
NOTE: I consider a standard page in Microsoft Word to be 8 1/2-inches x 11.0-inches, single-spaced, 12-point font, with 1-inch margins or approximately 640 words.
Formatting Services
- Doctoral Dissertations, Master's Thesis and Formatting requiring Specific Style Guides = $2.50/page ($75 minimum up to 30 pages)
- Book Layouts in 5.5 x 8.5 (standard novel), 6 x 9, and 8 x 8 = $0.10/page when included with an edit. Formatting Only/Without Edit Fee = $2.00/page.

NOTE: Short projects can often be completed in 1 or 2 days, but require a 24-hour notice.
The Fastest Way to Get Your Quote
When you send me your initial inquiry, attach a few pages (up to 5) of
your document to your email (I will do a FREE sample edit and return it
to you via email with my estimated total fee. The sample edit allows me
to see how well you write and how much editing will be
needed. It also allows you to see if my editing style is right for you.
I prefer that you send your work in Microsoft Word or Rich Text (.doc
or .rtf) and save it in a Word version lower than 2007. I have Vista 2007, but prefer to work in a lower version when possible. I can also edit PowerPoint presentations and Adobe Acrobat
PDF files, but make sure they are not password protected or locked, or
I won't be able to edit them.
Freebie Services I Offer
Track Changes Tutoring By Phone: I typically edit electronic documents using the "Track Changes" feature, but I can edit using the "Balloons" feature, if you prefer. If you do not know how to use one or both of these features to accept or decline my suggested edits, I would be happy to talk you through a little "crash course" in Track Changes by phone... no charge to you.
Learn How to Attach and Email Your Documents: I prefer that you send your work in Microsoft Word or Rich Text (doc or .rtf). If you don't know how to convert your document to rtf or Word, or need help attaching your work to your email, I'll walk you through it by phone... on my dime.
I'll Tutor You in the Basics of Word: As we work together on your document, I am happy to help you broaden your word-processing skills, if needed. So, if you know a little about Microsoft Word, but are clueless about using bullets, numbering, styles, and some of the more advanced advanced features, I'll be happy to help you via phone... no charge to you. I believe information should be shared and people need to be willing to help others learn skills they need.
I can also edit PowerPoint presentations and Adobe Acrobat PDF files. However, PDF files can't be password protected or locked, or I will not be able to change the text. Also, PDF file changes should be fairly minor for the best results.
All documents submitted to me are considered confidential and all rights to any written materials or graphics remain your property.
